JotWell Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the JotWell Android app. JotWell is a local-first expense tracker: there is no account, no sign-in, no bank linking, and no cloud sync.

1. Data JotWell Handles

JotWell stores the ledger data and app preferences you create or choose inside the app. This can include transactions, categories, notes, recurring rules, app settings, currency, theme, notification settings, and biometric lock preference.

Ledger data stays on-device in Android app storage. JotWell does not upload your ledger to a server, connect to your bank, or sync your ledger with a cloud account.

2. Data Collection and Sharing

JotWell does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal or financial ledger data. If you use Share feedback, only the name, optional email, and message you enter are sent to Formspree.

Share feedback is optional and is used so the developer can read and respond to your message. Feedback submissions do not attach ledger entries, categories, notes, recurring rules, app settings, backups, exported files, or imported files.

JotWell has no ads, no analytics SDKs, no bank connection, no sign-in, and no SMS access.

3. Imports and Exports

JotWell supports CSV and JSON import and export only when you choose those actions. Imports use files you select, and exports create files only after you request an export.

Exported files are outside JotWell app storage. Once exported, those files are controlled by the location, apps, backups, or sharing choices you use outside JotWell.

4. Notifications

JotWell offers optional local notifications called Smart Updates and Daily Reminder. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device.

On Android versions that require notification permission, JotWell asks for notification permission before sending these reminders. You can turn notification features off in JotWell settings or manage notification permission in Android settings.

5. Biometric Lock

JotWell can optionally require biometric unlock when opening the app. Biometric authentication is handled by Android on your device. JotWell does not collect, store, or receive your fingerprint, face data, or other biometric identifiers.

6. Retention and Deletion

Your ledger remains in JotWell app storage on your device until you edit it, delete entries, empty Trash, clear app storage, uninstall the app, or replace data through an import you choose.

Exported CSV or JSON files remain wherever you saved them outside JotWell app storage until you delete them from that location.

Feedback submissions may be kept by the developer and Formspree so they can be read and answered. To request deletion of a feedback submission, contact madebykishore@gmail.com.

7. Security

JotWell relies on Android app storage, Android app sandboxing, and your device security settings to protect local ledger data on your device. Optional feedback submissions are sent to Formspree over HTTPS.

Exported files are no longer protected by JotWell app storage after export, so you should store and share exported CSV or JSON files carefully.
